Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day - I went to Wells for the 2 minute silence held in the Market Square, it was a very wet morning.

My son played The Last Post

He has been playing the Last Post in Wells for 15 years.
Makes me very proud.

TV Prog

I am glad some of you were able to see the TV programme, I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
On the day of the programme there was a market in the town and people were encouraged to dress up in Victorian clothes.  I went along after work - not my best photos but it gives you a flavour of what it was like.

Sometimes when I drive home from work I go off the main road and drive down the country lanes, this particular road is one-track so there is only room for one car, there are plenty of passing places but sometimes it can be a bit scary when a ‘white van man’ is driving very fast towards you and you know he is not going to stop.  There are a few gateways to pull right into and stop, as you can see from these photographs it is worth stopping to view the countryside around:

That's my World

It is now the 1940's in Shepton Mallet and it is wartime, the shops all have their windows taped and sandbags are piled up.  The Dig for Victory posters are up encouraging people to grow their own food.

The tea shop is ready in case of bombs.

The toy shop is now a hardware shop, fashions are still sold upstairs

Sergison's is still there all prepared.
