I have a season ticket for Glastonbury Abbey so visit often. It’s one of my favourite places. I have posted photos and information about the abbey before here. It is a very peaceful place to go and just sit and watch the world go by. Also posted on ABC Wednesday! - the new home of ABC Wednesday.

This photograph was taken by moving the ZOOM lens as the photo was being taken, the camera was on a tripod with a shutter speed of 1/20.

In case you cannot see the notice clearly it says 'Caution Steps without Handrail'. I know it is a health and safety message but I can SEE there is no handrail! I sometimes think that health and safety goes over the top.

Photohunt - Support

This viaduct was used to Support the Somerset and Dorset railway line but it was closed in 1963. The gardens have been closed to the public and only open for special occasions but the good news is they have re-opened recently so I will be able to visit again.

Odd Shot

As I was posting this odd shot I thought this is not so odd - these are plucky people. It was pouring with rain, the occasion? Listening to a brass band on a Sunday afternoon in the park. The British are wonderful people, who else would sit out on a rainy afternoon to listen to a band?

ABC Wednesday - X

X is for Xylophone .......

The modern western-style xylophone has bars made of rosewood or more commonly, kelon, an extremely durable fiberglass that allows a louder sound at the expense of tone quality. Some xylophones can be as small as 2 1/2 octaves but concert xylophones are typically 3 1/2 or 4 octaves.

Concert xylophones have resonators below the bars to enhance the tone and sustain. Frames are made of wood or cheap steel tubing; more expensive xylophones feature height adjustment and more stability in the stand.
