The beginning of the month was all about commemorating the beginning of World War 1.
My local town had an all day vigil at the cenotaph, an exhibition in the park, a parade and 2 bands playing on the bandstand in the evening.
Why are we sitting in the park in the dark?
My son was not with us as he went to play with a band in another town and at 11 pm he played the Last Post.
As you may know I volunteer for Greyhound Rescue; on the 7th August Tara and I went to cheer on of the volunteers, Toby, who was cycling from Lands End to John O Groats a distance of approximately 950 miles.
He has so far raised over £5,000 for the charity.
August brought a challenge to the Geocachers - to collect 6 souvenirs and then get rewarded with a 7th badge (which goes on the website) for collecting them all.
All the caches were of different types puzzles, multi-caches (where you travel to different points to work out a puzzle), one of them was the Socializer where we met with other geocachers for a picnic in the park. It was great fun and challenged me as I don't normally do puzzle caches.

I now have found a total of 49 caches which is an achievement for me as due to my back problem I have difficulty walking far.

ReplyDeleteOver the years Month in Numbers bloggers have mentioned Geocaching quite often ... it would be funny if you met up with one via the socializer cache!
